Why now is a great time to find your professional cheerleader

2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate? You!

So often, it can feel like our careers are in the hands of others. Pay reviews are annual events (if we’re lucky), there’s usually an obvious trajectory in every sector and if we do end up leap-frogging others, it can go down like a sack of something not very pleasant at all, even if all we’ve done is get noticed for being excellent.

Of course, sometimes, coasting along career-wise is where we’re at – just because work takes up most of our physical time, it doesn’t mean it occupies the number one spot in our brain at all times too, and that’s just fine. But sometimes, when we want to do more, achieve more and – yes! There’s no shame in it! – earn more, and we’re feeling frustrated by the lack of obvious opportunities in front of us, taking matters into our own hands is the only way forward.

We believe that a great mentor, or coach, or just someone who gives a shit about you and what you do, is the number one way to take your career to the next level.  If you’re lucky, that person might already exist in the organisation you work for, or in the form of a great former colleague or friend. But, more often than not, they don’t fall into your lap quite so easily. If you’re self-employed and your only boss is you, or if you find that people you know IRL find it hard to view your career as objectively as you might need, or if you’ve spent the pandemic in survival mode, feeling frustrated by the lack of opportunities for actual progress, don’t panic – we can help. Here at Discoco, we’ve got a fabulous array of seriously impressive women who have the skills, experience and personality to support you to supercharge your career and we think that the positive “back to school” vibes of September make it the best possible time – especially this year – to get on with it. So, let’s introduce you to three of them…

Lara Cullen

Lara Cullen

The latest run of Lara’s 14 week People Person’s Programme to help you get the best out of yourself and others kicks off in September, and it’s really special. You get access to expert advice from Lara, tons of tools and in-depth content, group coaching and lots more. It’s a great way to invest in yourself (if you’re lucky, you might even be able persuade your boss that they should pay for it!), but still for a fraction of the price you would pay for 14 weeks of one on one coaching – and with way more perks. Plus you can sign up to the weekly Discoco newsletter to access an exclusive discount code.
